Bush 41: Son won't cut and run

Okay, okay, maybe this is just a father speaking proudly about his errant son. But, geez. Here is Bush 41 on Bush 43, speaking at a forum in the UAE:

"This son is not going to back away," Bush said, his voice quivering. "He's not going to change his view because some poll says this or some poll says that, or some heartfelt comments from the lady who feels deeply in her heart about something. You can't be president of the United States and conduct yourself if you're going to cut and run. This is going to work out in Iraq. I understand the anxiety. It's not easy."

Now that's scary. (Don't pay any attention, Jim Baker!) Someone in the audience got up to challenge 41: "We don't respect your son." The audience hooted and whistled.

Pete:

Sounds like Bush Sr (now that Jr is taking some advice) is desperately attempting some PR for his discredited son - but obviously failing.

Sad thing is that the agenda (of transferring huge amounts of US public money to US construction and contracting firms in Iraq) may be as compelling to many Democrats as it is to many Republicans. This may mean complete withdrawal may artificially take several years.

Mark DiFeliciantonio:

What do Bush 41 and friend James Baker say, now that the so called Iraq Study Group have completely repudiated Bush 43 and Cheney's ill thought war? How do these paragons respond to the parents of Iraqi childern in burn wards or worse?

All of this group are sickening. They continue to enrich themselves and their friends at the expense of the world. How do they sleep at night? Are silk pajamas really worth all of the death and misery?

We can either cut and run or stay and be killed, crippled and maimed and of course continue to kill, cripple and maimed men, women and children (meanwhile our children are protected from the war).

This must stop, war is too dangerous a game now. We can think of new ways for the military industrial complex to make money.

Thank you
