The fighting in Adhamiya, the Sunni section in north Baghdad, is hugely important. For the first time, the (mostly Shiite) Iraq government forces, including the police, are fighting house-to-house street battles with (mostly Sunni) neighborhood militias, possibly supported by armed elements of the resistance and even parts of the Iraqi army itself. If that isn't civil war, I don't know what it is.

Dear Robert, I read your book "Devil's Game" with interest. Have you written about Hezbollah? Are they really related to Baaathist Syria (seems incredible), as well as to Iran? Did the Isreali right and intel foster Hezbollah 20 years ago, as they fostered Hamas? It is frighening to think that US neocons are still recklessly stirring the Islamist pot, and care nothing about common people's welfare and economic development. Everything is just oil and power politics to them.
Sincerely, Kirill Thompson
